Course Details

Pistol Fundamentals Level III is designed for pistol shooters who have a good understanding of the fundamentals of marksmanship and are comfortable with basic pistol manipulation.  Level III continues to focus on the basics while incorporating drawing a pistol from a holster, conducting slide lock reloads, alternative shooting positions, moving then shooting,

  • Range familiarization and etiquette
  • Review of ready positions
  • Review of the fundamentals of marksmanship
  • Working from a holster
  • Acceptable sight pictures
  • Slide lock and tactical reloads
  • Turning and shooting from various positions
  • Shooting from the kneel
  • Moving then shooting
  • Various performance drills to observe progression
  • How to diagnose your own performance¬†

Course Length

  • 1 Day (8 hours)

Equipment List

  • Functional semi-automatic full size or compact pistol (No subcompact or pocket pistols allowed)
  • (3) or more magazines
  • Belt-mounted, dominant side holster with retention (Generic nylon and Serpa-style holsters not permitted)
  • (2) Magazine pouches
  • Sturdy belt, minimum of 1.5″ wide
  • Minimum 350 rounds of pistol (provided by student)
  • Ear protection (electronic preferred)
  • Clear eye protection
  • Clothing appropriate for the expected weather
